Apple is making an effort to capitalize on the popularity of ebay promotions on its website, with the launch of ads on the site for Apple products.
The ads, which appear in the top-right corner of the Apple store, include a message about the product and offer up a chance to get the promotion at a lower price, according to the website.
Apple will be making more of the ads available in the coming days, said Steve Glynn, an Apple spokesman, in an email to CNBC.
Glynn said the ads, created in conjunction with a local e-commerce company, will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
The ads will be limited to people who can purchase at least one Apple product.
Apple’s push into ebay is part of a broader strategy that aims to increase consumer adoption of its mobile platform.
Apple launched the App Store in January as a way to sell apps that its iPhones and iPads can run on.
It has also started offering coupons to users who want to buy an iPhone or iPad, as well as to customers who want an iPad Air.
Apple has also launched a limited number of new Macs.
Apple has made a number of acquisitions over the past year that have boosted its market share.
Apple also has a $5 billion cash cushion, with a total of about $1.4 billion in cash.
Apple shares closed up 3.5 percent at $191.94.
